HIRA to hold International Symposium for Responding COVID-19 over Long Term Period
- New Normal Era, Accelerate improvement of healthcare system -

 

 

□  Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (President Sun Min Kim, hereinafter “HIRA”) is going to hold ‘2020 HIRA International Online Symposium and Training Course’ under the theme of ‘COVID-19 Pandemic, Balancing a ’New Normal’ by Enhancing Healthcare System’ in the upcoming October 26 to 28 during 3 days.

 

□ COVID-19 has radically changed our daily lives and thrown global economy into the unprecedented crisis. The virus impact has expanded into social disaster and economic crisis beyond public health issue. In addition, the world needs to take comprehensive measures to fight against COVID-19 based on individual countries’ efforts. 

 ○ To do this, HIRA is planned to hold ‘International Symposium’ for sharing each country’s COVID-19 response strategies and various efforts with participants.

 

□ Starting with opening remarks from President Kim of HIRA and congratulatory remarks from Gang Lip Kim, Vice Minister of Health and Welfare,

○ Prof. Soonman Kwon of Seoul National University, Dr. Edward Kelly, Head of WHO Strategic Programmes and Patient Safety and Dr. Nicolaas Klazinga, Head of the OECD Health Care Quality Indicator Programme will deliver keynote speeches. After the speech, each country’s healthcare experts are going to present COVID-19 response cases and share in-depth opinions at the panel discussion.

 

□ The 2nd morning of the event before HIRA International Training Course started, ASEAN special session is scheduled  to communicate expertise and experiences with LMICs.

○ In the ASEAN session under the theme of ‘Efforts to respond COVID-19 and achieve UHC in ASEAN Countries’, various healthcare experts including Dr. Park Ki-dong, WHO Representative in Vietnam, Dr. Somil Nagpal, Senior Health Specialist in World Bank and Dr. Kamaiar Khajavi, Senior Director of JLN will participate and discuss opinions at the presentation.


□ Furthermore, communication section will be opened at online homepage (www.globalhira.or.kr) to share each country’s response to COVID-19 and current status of infectious disease management. 

 


○ All comers can submit online application on the homepage by October 23th and participate the event for free. Simultaneous interpretation (Korean and English) will be provided during the symposium and training course, also. 

○ The Symposium’s sessions and presentations will be transmitted by live through Arirang TV’s Online Video Channel (www.arirang.com/player/onair_tv_asp) and enjoy the video replay after the event on the symposium homepage (www.globalhira.or.kr).
