HIRA participates 2nd anniversary to implement PM-JAY


- Strengthen cooperation with presenting ICT-based Korea’s claims review system for medical fee -

 

□ Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service (President Sun Min Kim, hereinafter “HIRA”) participated the virtual conference in September 25th, Thursday at 7 p.m. (KST) for celebrating the 2nd anniversary of implementing PM-JAY and shared Korea’s experience of managing National Health Insurance system.

 

 * PM-JAY (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana): National Health system which has launched since September 2018 to relieve the underprivileged (About 0.5 billion people, the largest scale as a healthcare coverage system in the world) and it suggests full-scale National Health Insurance support as a goal by 2030.


□ Through this event, two year journey of PM-JAY were introduced and the achievement of managing healthcare coverage system from the global society were shared to find the best way of healthcare system further.

 ○ Co-hosted by NHA from India and World Bank, Korea, Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia were invited and healthcare experts from 5 countries and 50 officials from international organizations joined in this event. 

 

□ Dr. Indu Bhushan, CEO of NDHM and National Health Authority, delivered keynote speech about the performance of India’s health coverage system and the importance of expanding population coverage and the benefit package, and fraud control.

 ○ And then, HIRA presented Korea’s NHI system, ICT-based medical claims review, lessons learnt from the managing system and the way to improvement in the future.

 ○ Indonesia, Vietnam and Philippines also shared in order of their experiences of health coverage such as payment system innovation and continued the discussion.

 

□ “Since Korea achieved universal health coverage in 1989, we has built and managed the national health insurance system, the envy of the world,” President Kim told in the interview.

 ○ “Among them, there are huge demands for passing on HIRA’s role and function such as ICT-based medical claims review .and quality assessment of medical service so that we are going to satisfy the needs and contribute to developing global healthcare."
