Dr. Rudi Eggers, Director of Integrated Health Services of WHO, reaffirmed the continuous cooperation with HIRA
□ On the 4th of November, the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA, President: Sun Min Kim) announced that Dr. Rudi Eggers, Director of Integrated Health Services of WHO Headquarters, visited HIRA to discuss furthering international cooperation.
□ HIRA has sent its review and assessment researchers to WHO since 2016 in accordance with its secondment programme with WHO. HIRA was designated as a Collaborating Center for Strategic Purchasing in December of last year. Since then, HIRA has visibly reinforced the collaboration with WHO. HIRA held the Training Course on Social Health Insurance 2022 in September as one of the activities of WHO CC.
○ Dr. Rudi Eggers first requested a meeting with Dr. Sun Min Kim to discuss the cooperation between the two organizations on his trip to Korea which took place October 31 to November 4.
* Dr. Rudi Eggers visited Korea to attend the 2022 International Conference For Global Cooperation In Traditional Medicine co-hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and WHO.
○ At the beginning of the meeting with President Sun Min Kim, a moment of silence was held by Dr. Eggers for the victims, families, and the Korean people affected by the Halloween tragedy.
○ He joined the introductory session of HIRA after the meeting. In this session, the roles and functions and Health Care Big Data of HIRA were presented.
○ He was impressed with the efforts of Korea and HIRA to improve health care system and quality of care. He proposed to come up with more efficient ways to contribute to furthering health security and improving health care quality for the international community.
○ Dr. Sun Min Kim said that we will make as many contributions as possible to realizing universal health coverage and strengthening strategic healthcare purchasing at the global level. She reassured him that HIRA would continue to work with the Department of Integrated Health Services of WHO in various fields including improving quality of care, utilizing health care data, and enhancing health care system.
